Youth Crime Watch (YCW) of Miami-Dade County once again has implemented and reinstated YCW school programs (clubs/groups) at numerous school sites for the 2016-2017 school year. YCW of Miami-Dade has conducted various school presentations & assemblies on youth crime prevention topics including Bullying/Cyberbullying Prevention, Drug Prevention, Reporting Crimes, Personal Safety, and Gun Safety Awareness. As of the 1st & 2nd Quarter of the 2016-2017 school year (August 3, 2016-January 31, 2017), Youth Crime Watch of Miami-Dade County has served 6,605 students and distributed 12,613 youth crime prevention materials at Miami-Dade County Public Schools. 

The Miami-Dade Red Ribbon Week Campaign (October 23-31) was once again successful on educating Miami-Dade County students on Drug Prevention. Youth Crime Watch of Miami-Dade County conducted numerous YCW “Red Ribbon Week” Drug Prevention Assemblies and Presentations at Miami-Dade County Public Schools. This year’s Red Ribbon Week Theme was “YOLO (you only live once)– Be Drug Free”. YCW incorporated the theme in the assemblies and presentations. McGruff the Crime Dog, as always, played a vital role in many of the YCW Red Ribbon Week school assemblies & classroom presentations.
