  1. Violence is hurting people or animals on purpose.
  2. Violence is wrong and it hurts everyone.
  3. All of the following take the form of emotional violence:  name calling, swearing at someone, shouting insults, and threatening to hurt someone.
  4. All of the following take the form of physical violence:  fighting, hitting, shoving, tripping, grabbing, kicking, robbing, stabbing and shooting.
  5. If you know about something violent that is going to happen in your school, it is your duty to report it to an adult you trust such as a Teacher, Principal, Assistant Principal, Counselor, Security Guard or School Police Officer.
  6. The School Safety Hotline number is 1-877-723-2728 or 1-877-7BE-BRAVE.
  7. When someone needs help fast, it is an emergency.  It could be a fire, a medical emergency, or a crime that’s happening.
  8. Call 9-1-1 for real emergencies only!
  9. The steps for calling 9-1-1 are:  1) stay calm  2) tell the 9-1-1 operator what is wrong  3) say your name, where you are, and the phone number you are calling from  4) answer any questions and follow any instructions  5) do not hang up until the 9-1-1 operator tells you to.
